Frederic “Chris” Allen, tenor, has had a diverse performance experience for the past 40 years as a professional soloist and chorister in New York, nationally and abroad.

He has sung with New York City Opera and various opera companies and other performance organizations spanning Musical Theater to Oratorio, Broadway, radio and television performances and was a soloist on the first recording of “Miss July” by Ned Rorem.

A Wellfleet resident since 1999, he has sung with Cape Cod Opera, Orleans Academy Playhouse, Chatham Chorale and Chamber Singers, Outer Cape Chorale, Chatham Music Club, St. Christopher’s Choir and in numerous solo recitals.

He will be a featured performer at Cape Cod Classical Open Mic in 2020 with Lucy Banner, performing the song cycle “To Julia” by Roger Quilter.

Mr. Allen has lectured about the history of American Opera and Bel Canto Opera for the Eldridge Library in Chatham and will present on “Famous Opera Houses in History”.

He is retired from Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital as Manager of Occupational Health and Staff Education and serves on the Chatham Music Club Board as Vice President and Editor of the CMC Newsletter.

 

Pianist Lucy Banner is well known to Cape Cod audiences as a solo pianist and collaborative pianist for instrumentalists and singers throughout southeastern MA. She holds degrees in piano performance from Oberlin Conservatory and Ithaca College. Ms. Banner is former music director and pianist of Cape Cod Opera. and First Parish Brewster. She is now pianist with Trio Vivo, "an uncommon ensemble", with saxophonist Bruce Abbot, and flutist Mariellen Sears, and she is a collaborative pianist for Open Mic Classical.
