Truro Trio was formed in 2012 after serendipitous meetings in which they discovered their musical connection.
Katharine Baker, violin, majored in music at Harvard-Radcliffe where she played in the Bach Society Orchestra for four years and was concertmaster in 1958-59. She lives in Northampton, Mass., and is a founding member of the Hilltown Strings. She is a retired family therapist, and her vacation home in Truro hosts numerous trio practices.
Ed Miller, viola, has been playing chamber music with friends for 52 years, and also enjoys composing and arranging music. He hosts chamber music play-ins every Thanksgiving at his home in Wellfleet and has been a participant in the Bennington Chamber Music Conference since 1985. He is the editor of the new outer Cape newspaper, The Provincetown Independent.
Laura Geiges of Wellfleet started playing the cello at age ten and forgot to stop. She’s been in various small chamber ensembles on the Outer Cape for the past 20 years and has recently taken up Celtic music and plays regularly at the Celtic sessions at The Well Restaurant in Wellfleet. She spends her days as the Assistant Assessor for the town of Truro.
Our collaborative pianist of the day Elizabeth Hughes Tipton is a native of Wisconsin, holding graduate degrees in performance from the Juilliard School of Music with post graduate work at Columbia Teachers college in N.Y.C. After a thirty year career as performer teacher in Westfield, N.J. she moved to Cape Cod with her husband and is now on the faculty of The Cape Cod Conservatory of Music and Art in Falmouth.
She has performed extensively as a soloist, in chamber music ensembles and as a collaborative pianist in New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts.
